September 8, 2020 These past two weeks we have done a lot with the task box project. After delivering them to Ms. Amones, we contacted her and asked for feedback or more ideas. She got back to us and said. "I can't wait for my kids to try these out, they look great!" She also wrote that she likes the ideas we have and wants some more of our own ideas. We looked for more ideas on Pinterest. A few days later, Whitney, Kennedy, Addi, and I went out to Dollar Tree and collected more supplies. We thought it would be a good idea to do a letter sorting box, block pattern box, and string the beads box. After gathering supplies, we organized it into each box. For the block pattern box, we placed index cards and blocks in a bag. The index card includes a pattern that the kids have to make with the box. The letter sort box lets the kids insert block letters into slots labeled with a letter. The string the beads block includes pipe cleaners and different bead types and colors. There are index cards in the box that has a pattern the kid must put on the pipe cleaner. These task boxes focus on thinking and motor skills. Later this week, we are hoping to drop them off with Ms. Amones and get feedback! September 18 2020 This past week we dropped off our three most recent task boxes to Ms. Amones at NPJH. She said that the kids love getting new things and these task boxes are making them happy. This week we went out and got more supplies to make 4 more boxes. Our box ideas are a Pom Pom sort which helps with fine motor skills. This involves an ice tray, tongs, and pom poms. The other idea is a Fill In the Number which includes large popsicle sticks and little close pins. There is a missing number on the popsicle stick and a matching number on the close pin they have to match. The other idea we have includes Locks and Keys. We found locks and keys at Walmart. Ms. Amones said her students love locks and keys. The last box we created using blocks and patterns. The kids have to match the blocks with the patterns. Towards the end of the week, we assembled these boxes and made labels and directions. We are going to drop the boxes off to her next week. Ms. Amones also reached out to Ms. Westerman, the speacial ed teacher at the highschool, and shared what we were doing for her. Ms. Westerman contacted us and Mr. Large and we came down to her room and talked to her. She shared her ideas with us and gave us a list of task boxes. We are planning on going out and buying supplies for her next week. October 1 2020 |
